Marriage Petitions
United Estates citizens and permanent residents may petition permanent residency (green card) for their spouses. Marriage petitions can be filed for spouses outside of the United States or for those who are already in the country.
The following requirements must be met to qualify:
- The petitioner must be a US Citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
- Must be legally married in the United States or another country
- Must be a bona fide marriage
Fiancés Petitions – K1 Visa
US Citizens can bring their foreign fiancés to the United States to get married by. The following criteria must be met:
- The petitioner must be a U.S. Citizen
- You intend to marry within 90 days of the fiancé’s arrival
- The petitioner and fiancé are free to marry: not currently married in any jurisdiction
- Petitioner and fiancé met within 2 years of filing the petition (there are exceptions to this rule).
Children of spouses and fiancés may also qualify.
